Our new Start/Stop System turns car driving into pure pleasure. Because it helps you to protect the environment, to save fuel and at the same time to revel in pure driving comfort. When you stop – at a red traffic light for instance – this function switches the engine off automatically. As soon as you depress the accelerator pedal, the motor starts up again immediately almost without your noticing. This is thanks not only to electronic control but also to our novel Start/Stop Starter Motor, which starts the internal-combustion engine particularly quickly and quietly.

From now on, every stop is worthwhile

Instead of letting the engine tick over unproductively, let the Bosch Start/Stop System switch it off whenever the vehicle is
at a stand. This means zero fuel consumption and zero noise.

In the city driving cycle, the Start/Stop System reduces CO2
 emissions and fuel consumption by up to 8%. This driving
cycle consists of a distance of 7 kilometers with 12 stops
of 5 seconds each. In actual town traffic, stoppage times
may be considerably longer – with correspondingly higher
savings potential.

Particularly rapid and quiet automatic starting is ensured
not only by the high-performance Start/Stop Starter Motor
but also by the electronic control of the starting operation
and by fuel injection. This rapid starting is so economical
that even stops of less than a second actually save you
money.

The corresponding functions for controlling the engine start
and fuel combustion are integrated into the engine control
unit. The charge of the vehicle’s battery is monitored by a
sensor. The information thus provided ensures that the
vehicle’s electrical system always has sufficient reserves
of electrical energy.
