 | The diesel engine is an auto-ignition engine. Air is drawn in by the piston’s downstroke and subsequently is compressed. Diesel fuel is injected into the resultant compressed, hot air. The simultaneous combination of high pressure and temperature cause the fuel to ignite without an ignition spark.
