The first CAPS functions
CAPS is not light-years away in fact, the first CAPS functions are already on the market. The starting point for networking within the framework of CAPS are systems and components which are often already present in the vehicle. These include, for example, the airbag control unit, ESC Electronic Stability Control or the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

Intelligent occupant protection

Requirements for occupant protection are constantly becoming more demanding. In order to offer those inside the vehicle maximum protection in the event of a crash, electronic occupant-protection systems must recognize what type of crash is involved and how serious it may be, precisely matching the effectiveness of the protective restraint devices to the crash situation.
