Exhaust-gas treatment for diesel engines
The lambda oxygen sensor which started series production in 1976, was the breakthrough for the introduction of the closed-loop control three-way catalytic converter. Today the lambda closed-loop control is a standard in most cars with gasoline engines.
For diesel engines, we are developing system functions and components to support the efficient functioning of the NOx catalytic converters, including exhaust sensors based on the lambda oxygen sensor. For diesel commercial vehicles we have the Denoxtronic reduction agent metering system which is used with the SCR catalytic converter (Selective Catalytic Reduction). For passenger cars we are developing a particulate filter which lasts the lifetime of the car without the need for maintenance.
