In 1995, active driving safety improved by yet another di- mension thanks to the introduction of ESP®: in addition to
the vehicle’s longitudinal dynamic response, ESP® also in- fluences the vehicle’s lateral dynamic response. This applies under all driving situations, not only when pulling away and during braking. ESP® recognizes when the vehicle threatens
to become unstable and intervenes in a flash. The vehicle remains controllable, and doesn’t go into a skid.
