Departronic

With Departronic, Bosch offers heavy commercial vehicles,
in particular, a diesel-fuel metering system to regenerate particulate filters. The system allows the particulate filter
to be regenerated via targeted injection of diesel fuel into
the exhaust gas. Expensive coating of the filter or an extra
tank for an additive are not required.

Departronic is integrated into the low-pressure fuel circuit. It injects a precisely metered amount of diesel upstream of the oxidation catalytic converter into the flow of exhaust without
the need for supporting air pressure. The temperature of the exhaust gases flowing through the oxidation catalytic converter is hereby raised to 600 degrees Celsius. This burns the soot stored in the particulate filter. The flow rate is varied in accordance with the actual requirements. This sturdy and completely maintenance-free system controls the addition of fuel as required and independently of the engine’s injection system.
