Electronic throttle control (ETC/EGAS)

The ETC/EGAS system: 1 Accelerator-pedal module, 2 Engine-management ECU, 3 Throttle device
Function
The ETC electronic throttle control (also known as
drive-by-wire), comprises throttle device, accelerator-pedal module,
and ECU. It adapts the engine torque to the driver's accelerator-pedal
input and to the operating parameters of engine and gearbox. Thanks to
ETC, such safety systems as ESP® are able to reduce torque rapidly and
precisely, without causing any increases in emissions.
