Engine Management for Manifold Injection

Engine Management for Manifold Injection

1 Engine piston, 2 Injector, 3 Intake valve

Manifold injection: Method of operation

With the manifold-injection system, the air-fuel mixture is formed outside the engine cylinder in the intake manifold.
The injector (2) sprays the fuel towards the intake valve (3). During the intake stroke, the downwards moving piston
draws in the A/F mixture past the open intake valve
and into the combustion chamber. The injectors are
so dimensioned that the engine's fuel requirements are always complied with, irrespective of load or engine speed.
