Predictive Emergency Braking PEB

Intervenes when a collision
is unavoidable

Predictive Emergency Braking PEB is the third further-
development stage of the Predictive Safety Systems. It com-
bines the functions of PBA and PCW. Furthermore, in an emergency PEB also automatically triggers all-out braking.
This function though is not triggered unless the driver has
not reacted to the preceding warnings, or has reacted inadequately, and as a result a collision cannot be avoided.

Independent of the driver's reactions, the automatic emergen-
cy braking ensures maximum vehicle deceleration so that the impact is lessened as far as possible and the risk of injury is minimized

Maximum safety and reliability are the major considerations Since PEB actively intervenes in vehicle handling, we place maximum demands on safety and reliability in the detection of obstacles and the estimation of accident risk. Here, the radar sensor must be assisted by a second measuring system, preferably using video technology.

Before such a system can be taken into operation on the roads, all legal stipulations must be considered.
